10.3k Cwmbran Llanyravon loop

As scheduled I did my second 10k of the week. Risking being soaked wet through with the torrential rain we are having at the moment I waited for a break in the clouds then got running.

Today's route was harder than yesterday. It incorporates a slow climb up the canal and loops around through the center of Cwmbran to Llanravon. Then on to Llantarnam and back to the office.

Today I found out my 'not fitted but proper running shoes' are hell. They rub like nobodies business and the blisters from yesterday developed blisters on top. It wasn't a pretty run and I was in a lot of pain pretty much from 3k onwards. I am now convinced I need to get proper fitted shoes. I can't keep on putting plasters on my feet so at the weekend I'm off to a specialist shop.

My splits came out as:

1. 4:56,6 4:56,6 1 km 12.2 km/h
2 5:31,87 10:27,94 1 km 10.8 km/h
3. 5:22,2 15:49,97 1 km 11.2 km/h
4. 5:25,4 21:15,0 1 km 11.1 km/h
5. 5:55,33 27:10,34 1 km 10.1 km/h
6. 5:57,69 33:08,4 1 km 10.1 km/h
7. 5:55,4 39:03,9 1 km 10.1 km/h
8. 6:18,7 45:21,17 1 km 9.5 km/h
9. 5:55,37 51:16,53 1 km 10.1 km/h
10. 6:04,93 57:21,46 1 km 9.9 km/h

As you can see, I started off too fast, (aiming for a 10.5k pace) and as the pain got worse around the 5K mark I dramatically slowed.

Day off tomorrow then another run on Thursday. I'll be trying my other running shoes then to see if they make a difference.
